A good three years after the market launch of the seventh generation of the compact BMW sedan, the heart of the brand has been freshened up.

The new 3 Series is available from July, prices start at 43,900 euros for the 318i, as a station wagon variant, called Touring, the 318 costs exactly 45,000 euros.

The dimensions, 4.71 meters in length are not really compact, do not change anything.

There have been retouches on the body, all 3-series now have at least 17-inch light-alloy wheels, and the "powerfully designed BMW kidney grille with new double rods" should not be ignored.

The interior is experiencing a "fundamental further development of the brand-typical driver orientation".

This is ensured by the curved screen known from other models with a 12.3-inch dashboard area in front of the steering wheel and the almost 15-inch "Control Display" for navigation and infotainment.

Incidentally, the basic equipment is expanded to include a three-zone automatic climate control, the in-house navigation system and a parking aid.

The range of engines remains diverse.

There are three plug-in models for the sedan and four for the touring.

Those who prefer to drive in a classic way can choose from four petrol and four diesel drives with four or six cylinders.

The displacement is two or three liters.

The performance spectrum ranges from 150 to 374 hp.

The six-cylinder petrol engine in the 330i and all diesel drives have 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

After there were almost only automatic models in 2019, the last manual switch is now flying out of the program.

All 3 Series now have the eight-speed automatic.

If you choose a six-cylinder engine, you get all-wheel drive, for other models, including the chargeable plug-ins, it is available as an option.

The 3 Series is still a Munich Kindl, the sedan is also built in San Luis Potosi in Mexico, and an exclusive variant is produced in Shenyang for China.
