3 scenarios for Al-Abyad to qualify for the Arab Cup... and an expected draw for Egypt and Algeria

The national team is awaiting, during its match with Tunisia, today, three scenarios to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Arab Cup.

Al-Abyad occupies the top spot in the second group of the tournament with the full mark after beating Syria 2-1 and Mauritania 1-0, and will guarantee qualification as the leader if he wins or draws with the Carthage Eagles, to meet in the second round the runners-up of the first group among the teams of Iraq, Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman.

Al-Abyad will also have the opportunity to qualify if he loses to Tunisia by one goal only, while he will leave the tournament, if he loses by more than one goal, provided that Syria defeats Mauritania.

The regulations of the Arab Cup stipulate that in the event that three teams are equal in points, the results of the fourth-placed team will be annulled, and qualification will be decided by the difference between direct confrontations between them.

Four teams had booked their places in the quarter-finals, namely Qatar, the host country, Morocco, Algeria and Egypt, while Sudan and Mauritania bid farewell to the tournament before the final round today.

Although Egypt and Algeria qualified for the second round, their confrontation tomorrow remains crucial to determine the fourth group champion, to ensure that they will move away from Morocco in the quarter-finals.

The "Pharaohs" and "Desert Warriors" are equal in points and goals, and the draw may intervene between them to determine the leader of the group in the event that the confrontation ends in a tie with any result.
