3 Important Updates to Enhance Your Privacy on WhatsApp

Technology experts have advised all users of the instant messaging application WhatsApp to make 3 major changes in the “Settings” menu at the beginning of 2022, which are related to enhancing privacy.

1 Lock WhatsApp:

Locking WhatsApp separately on the iPhone is very important, because it prevents people who use your phone from seeing your messages.

To activate this step, you have to go to WhatsApp settings, then click "Account", and choose "Privacy".

From Privacy, Screen Lock can be turned on using your fingerprint or face, and you will also have the option to specify a period of time when one of the two features is required again.

After activating this feature, whenever you go to open WhatsApp, it will ask you for your fingerprint or a photo of your face to verify that you are actually reading your private conversations.

2 WhatsApp self-delete:

WhatsApp has a recently added feature, which will automatically self-destruct new texts after one day.

The new update aims to enhance your privacy, by destroying old WhatsApp messages.

And you can set the "disappeared messages" feature to turn on automatically for all new chats, without affecting existing chats.

And two new periods for hidden messages have been added, 24 hours and 90 days, so you can now choose from 4 options in total, 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days, or turn off the feature permanently.

In order to activate this feature you have to go to Settings, then click on Account, choose "Privacy", then turn on the default message timer.

This feature was only rolled out a few weeks ago, so be sure to update WhatsApp to the latest version.

3 2-Step Verification:

The last change you should make in WhatsApp at the beginning of 2022 is to turn on 2-Step Verification, an extra step to verify your phone number, to help keep hackers away from your account.

To turn on 2-Step Verification go to Settings, tap Account, and toggle 2-Step Verification On.
