Skicross national team skier Alexandra Edebo has suffered several concussions in the past two years.

The doctors have advised her not to continue competing and bet on the elite level.

And the 26-year-old has listened.

- The risk is too great to continue.

As long as I don't crash again it's no problem, but I have to be realistic and realize it could happen.

It's tough, I've been living in total denial lately, but it will sink in, she says.

Edebo's last ski cross competition was at the World Cup in the Austrian Reitealm last spring.

Then she crashed nasty.

And the season before, in December 2020, she suffered a minor concussion in Val Thorens.

- This is what I have been doing for the past ten years.

Still, it feels like I was just on a roll.

So it's a tough decision to make.

It's scary, but there are also opportunities in the future.

Alexandra Edebo debuted in the World Cup in 2017. In total there were three podium places – a third place, a second place and a victory.

She also participated in the WC 2021 and the Olympics 2022.
