2500 in the audience at an infection-proof concert

Organizers around the world are trying to find different models for how to organize cultural events in an infectious way. On Tuesday night, it premiered for a fully corona-adapted, social distancing concert in Newcastle.

With the audience spread over 500 separate platforms, as many as 2,500 people could see the acclaimed pop comedian Sam Fender inaugurate the facility, which lifts the infection-proof concert to a whole new scale. Maybe the VIP lodge for everyone will be the new normal.

"It's not going to be a normal gig but we have to do what we can," Newcastle resident Sam Fender told the BBC.

"I think it is fantastic that our region is taking the lead in this, that we are breaking new ground for something that will hopefully continue during the rest of the pandemic."

Bookings for August and September for the new stage include Newcastle band Maximo Park, The Libertines, Van Morrison and comedians Jimmy Carr and Bill Bailey.
