23 people have died in a bus crash east of Casablanca in Morocco.

A further 36 people were injured.

The bus was traveling between Casablanca and the rural region of Ait Attab when it veered off a highway in a curve.

An investigation into the accident has been launched.

Traffic accidents are relatively common in Morocco and other North African countries.

On average, 3,500 deaths and 12,000 injuries are registered per year, according to the country's traffic safety authority.
