On January 8, the Tianjin Municipal Government held a press conference on the prevention and control of the new crown virus pneumonia epidemic. Gu Qing, director of the Tianjin Municipal Health Commission, introduced that after screening of key groups, as of 21:00, Tianjin had detected another infection among close contacts. All 18 patients infected with the new coronavirus have been transferred to designated hospitals for isolation and treatment.
The infected people mainly involved the care institutions where the cases were located, school students and parents.
As of 21:00 on January 8, Tianjin has determined a total of 814 close contacts, 553 secondary close contacts, 767 negative nucleic acid tests, and 18 positive ones. Other investigation and control work is still in progress.
A total of 70 items and environmental samples from relevant places were investigated, and 14 were positive for nucleic acid tests, including 2 positive samples from the elevator of the building where the patient was located, 12 samples from the patient's home environment, and the rest were negative.
All epidemic-related places are subject to terminal disinfection.
As of 21:00, a total of 75,680 people have been managed in this outbreak.
