Non-oil foreign trade between the UAE and China during the period from 2012 to 2021 grew by 78.5%, to reach 223.5 billion dirhams at the end of last year, compared to 125.1 billion dirhams in 2012.

The total non-oil foreign trade between the two countries during that period exceeded about 1.72 trillion dirhams, of which 1.53 trillion dirhams were imports, about 64 billion dirhams the value of non-oil exports, and about 121 billion dirhams the value of re-exports, according to the data of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center.

The data showed that the first half of this year recorded a non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and China worth 118.4 billion dirhams, distributed between imports worth 102.7 billion dirhams, non-oil exports worth 5.5 billion dirhams, and re-exports worth 9.8 billion dirhams.

The year 2017 recorded the highest volume of trade exchange over the past decade, with a value of 195.6 billion dirhams, an increase of 15%, compared to the volume of trade in 2016 of 170.1 billion dirhams.

Communication devices topped the list of goods that were imported from China during the past year, with a value of 70 billion dirhams, followed by data processing machines with a value of 23.6 billion dirhams, then vaccines for human medicine with a value of 4.1 billion dirhams, then display screens with a value of 2.5 billion dirhams, and finally headphones and amplifiers. The sound is worth 2.5 billion dirhams.

In the list of the five most important commodities exported to China, "ethylene polymers" came in the first place with a value of four billion dirhams, followed by "propylene polymers" with a value of 1.9 billion dirhams, then rapeseed oils with a value of 1.4 billion dirhams, and copper residues and scrap with a value of 0.6 billion dirhams. And the residues of fatty oils extraction, with a value of 0.57 billion dirhams.

As for the list of the five most important commodities that were re-exported from the country to China during the past year, communications devices topped the list with a value of 8.3 billion dirhams, data processing machines with a value of 2.09 billion dirhams, cars with about 1.5 billion dirhams, raw nickel with a value of 1.3 billion dirhams, and parts and supplies for vehicles worth 0.6 billion dirhams.
