Video service Apple TV + together with the company Legendary Television will shoot a game series about the monster Godzilla and other mutants of the MonsterVerse cinematic universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will take place "after a massive battle between Godzilla and the Titans that razed San Francisco to the ground, and a shocking revelation about the reality of monsters."
The story centers on a family determined to "uncover the secrets associated with her and unravel the legacy that links her to a secret organization called The Monarch."
This company has already featured in past Godzilla films.
Monarch employees try to protect the world from monsters and hide their existence.
Producers on the project include Joby Harold (Edge of Tomorrow), Tori Tunnell (King Arthur: The Sword), Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), and Chris Black, who previously worked on Star Trek: Enterprise and "Desperate Housewives". From the Japanese company Toho, which owns the copyright to Godzilla, they will be joined by Hiro Matsuoka (Pokémon. Detective Pikachu) and Takemasa Arita. Black will also serve as showrunner. The cast of the series and the date of the premiere are still unknown.
The series will be part of the MonsterVerse media franchise, which launched in 2014 with the blockbuster Godzilla.
In addition to the huge lizard, the giant monkey King Kong and other monsters live in the universe.
MonsterVerse also includes Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021).
