A man with an umbrella and a woman in a red raincoat leave the lobby on the first floor.

This is a brother and sister of a man in his 40s who disappeared in heavy rain on the night of the 8th.

It was understood that the two people who went out on the road full of rainwater immediately after leaving the building were sucked under the manhole here in an instant.

As the day dawned, rescue workers followed the underwater robot one after another into the underground pipeline, but the search was difficult because it was complicated like a maze and full of rain and dirt.

About 3 pm yesterday, about 40 hours after the disappearance, Mr. A was found dead.

It was in the rainwater pipe 1.5km away from the missing manhole.

The fire department continues to search for a woman in her 50s who has gone missing by extending the scope to the underground rainwater pipe and the Han River.

In addition to these siblings, five missing persons were reported in Seocho-gu alone, including a man in his 40s who was swept away by a torrent while looking at a vehicle parked in an underground parking lot, and authorities are searching for it.

There are over 270,000 manholes in Seoul alone, and you need to be careful if you encounter a backflowing manhole in heavy rain.

[Jo Won-cheol / Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering, Yonsei University: If the water is more than 30cm, you must not enter it.

If you have to (inevitably) cross the street, do not walk alone, but with a group of people (holding hands, etc.)]]

It is recommended to avoid flooded areas as much as possible even if the manhole cover is open, as it may not be visible from the outside.
