The 28th Civil Settlement of the Seoul Central District Court (Judge Yoon Do-geun) said today (23rd) in the first trial of an insurance claim filed by her husband Lee against Kyobo Life Insurance, "Kyobo Life will pay 203 million won to Lee and pay 203 million won to Lee's children. You have to pay 2 million won.”
Lee also won a lawsuit against Samsung Life Insurance in October of last year.
At that time, the court ordered the insurance company to pay a total of 3 billion won to Lee.
On the other hand, the court ruled that Lee lost the plaintiff's suit against Mirae Asset Life Insurance and Linea Life Insurance for payment of insurance money, respectively.
The losing side in all three cases appealed, and the appeal trial is in progress at the Seoul High Court.
In August 2014, while driving a van, Lee collided with a truck parked on the shoulder.
After the accident, the prosecution charged with murder and insurance claim fraud, citing that Mr. Lee purchased 25 insurance policies with her wife as the insured and herself as the beneficiary between 2008 and 2014.
It was found that the insurance money that Mr. Lee signed over 25 cases was 9.5 billion won in principal alone, and over 10 billion won in delayed interest combined.
However, the court confirmed the two-year prison sentence in March last year, saying "the motive of the crime is not clear" and acquitted the charges of murder and fraud.
