Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung has filed a civil lawsuit claiming that a victim who lost his family in the murder of his nephew, whom he defended in the past, suffered damage from Lee's remarks.
According to the legal community today (9th), Mr. A, who suffered serious injuries after his spouse and daughter were killed by Lee's nephew in 2006, filed a lawsuit against Lee today with the Seoul Central District Court.
In the complaint, it is known that candidate Lee recently claimed on social media services (SNS) that the murder of his nephew was referred to as 'date violence' and that he suffered mental pain, claiming 100 million won in damages.
On May 8, 2006, Lee's nephew Kim visited Mr. A's home in Amsa-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul and wielded a weapon he had prepared in advance to kill Mr. A's spouse and daughter.
In the process, Mr. A jumped from the balcony of the 5th floor apartment to avoid Mr. Kim and was seriously injured.
Candidate Lee, who served as a lawyer for Kim's first and second trials, became controversial because it was recently re-examined belatedly when he claimed that Kim was mentally and physically weak during the trial.
After Kim was sentenced to life in prison in both the first and second trial, the appeal was withdrawn, and the verdict was confirmed.
