The government is starting a pilot project for dual-income and single-parent families to help with housework, such as cleaning, laundry, and cooking.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it would implement a 'housework support service pilot project' for dual-income families and single-parent families that combine work and childcare.
The pilot project will be conducted in Seoul, Ulsan, and Donghae, Gangwon.
If you pay between 24,000 won and 144,000 won per month, depending on your household income, service personnel come to you 4 times a month to help with housework for 4 hours per session.
Eligibility for support varies from city to city.
In the case of Seoul, for pregnant women who are about to give birth, housework services are provided for two months for households with a standard median income of 150% or less.
Donghae City and Ulsan City support dual-income families with children under the age of 18 or single-parent households.
Ulsan City can also apply for this service to pregnant women or those who are less than 3 years old after giving birth.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to supplement the system and infrastructure and expand the implementation area through pilot projects.
