Marine soldier A, who tried to enter Ukraine after leaving the country without permission while on vacation, was arrested after about a month.



The Marine Corps investigation team said, "We secured a new recruit of Private A, who defected from military service abroad on March 21, and arrested him after returning home today." will," he said.



Person A left for Poland through Incheon International Airport on the 21st of last month while on vacation and tried to enter Ukraine.



However, entry was denied at the Ukrainian side border checkpoint, and the Ukrainian side took Person A to the Polish border checkpoint in the border city of southeastern Poland, but Mr. A escaped from the checkpoint without permission.



It is known that A has stayed at a local refugee camp since then.



Military and diplomatic authorities have persuaded him to return to Korea by tracing Mr. A's whereabouts, and as he recently announced his intention to return, he secured a new recruit and executed an arrest warrant immediately after arriving at Incheon International Airport.



He is now transported to Pohang.



However, in the process, Mr. A is said to have made somewhat unreasonable requests to his authorities, such as the provision of 'business class' for the return flight.



The Marine Corps Investigation Team plans to apply for an arrest warrant after being detained in Pohang in accordance with the rule that an arrest warrant can be requested within 48 hours after arrest.



Person A, whose passport has been expunged, may be sentenced to imprisonment for not less than 1 year and not more than 10 years if he is brought to trial in accordance with Article 30 (Withdrawal of Military Service) Paragraph 1, Paragraph 3 of the Military Criminal Act.
