The ministers expressed their condolences in connection with the crash of the Ukrainian plane and discussed the cooperation of the two countries in the technical, legal and consular fields.

It is also reported that the parties agreed to continue the interaction of expert groups of the ministries of the two countries.

On January 11, Tehran admitted that the country's air defense system mistakenly shot down a passenger plane, mistaking it for a cruise missile.

Canada, Ukraine, Sweden, Afghanistan and the United Kingdom demanded that Iran pay compensation to the families of those killed in the crash.
