Zaragoza closed the last season in Second Division with 51 points, six above the decline, too far from the expectations of a hobby that stoically faces its seventh consecutive year away from the elite. The illusion of the new project is now focused on a signing: Shinji Kagawa. The Japanese midfielder, 30, can become the revulsive of the staff of Víctor Fernández.

In recent weeks, the Board of Directors of the club, headed by César Alierta, had closed the incorporations of Carlos Vigaray (Alavés) or Pichu Atienza (Numancia). However, the former president of Telefonica now surprises with the commitment to former Borussia Dortmund footballer, one of the most talented flyers in the Bundesliga in the last decade.

After four years as top star of the Osaka Cherry Tree, Kagawa arrived in 2010 to the legendary Westfalenstadion. There, Jurgen Klopp made him one of the engines of a Borussia full of young talent (Mats Hummels, Mario Götze, Ilkay Gündogan, Robert Lewandowski). In his second season, with 22 years, he picked up with 13 goals and 12 assists in 31 Bundesliga matches. That exceptional performance opened other doors.

Sancho and Pulisic

Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United knocked on the door, but the two seasons of the Japanese at Old Trafford did not meet expectations. Therefore, in 2014 he took the trip back to Dortmund, where he was able to complete four courses with more than acceptable numbers. Last year, however, Lucien Favre lost confidence in his football to bet on Jadon Sancho or Christian Pulisic.

In this way, last January Kagawa was given a loan to Besiktas where he helped Senol Günes team with four goals and two assists in 14 games.
