“Statements about the fact that the Soviet Union occupied itself, and that’s how they can be qualified, is an indication that ... official Warsaw has played up,” RIA Novosti quoted Zakharov as saying.

She added that, unfortunately, this would be repeated.

“But we have something to answer,” the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Zakharova said earlier that Poland launched a large-scale disinformation campaign against Russia on the theme of World War II.

The Russian Embassy in Germany also commented on an article by Polish Ambassador to Germany Andrzej Psilebsky for the newspaper Märkische Oderzeitung, in which he accused the USSR of equal responsibility with the Third Reich for unleashing World War II. Pshilebsky also noted in the article that supposedly not the USSR, but the Western allies "made a decisive contribution to ending the war."

The diplomatic mission said that with the approach of the 75th anniversary of the Victory, Polish historical revisionism is rapidly gaining momentum.
