Yemen's two ministers and a senior lawmaker on Sunday called for an end to the UAE's role in the Saudi-led Arab coalition because of its "deviation" and support for "tearing Yemen" projects.
This came in a joint statement issued by the Minister of Interior Ahmed al-Maisari, Minister of Transport Saleh al-Jabwani, in addition to Abdul Aziz Jabbari, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (Parliament).
The statement stressed the need to end the UAE's participation in the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy as it "deviated from the objectives for which the coalition called for an end to the Houthi coup and the restoration of state institutions led by President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi."
The statement accused the UAE of supporting the coup of the Southern Transitional Council on the legitimate authorities in the interim capital Aden in the south of the country, and adopted and supported projects to tear Yemen.
The statement condemned what he described as the "crime of assault" on the Yemeni national army by the UAE aviation, calling on the government to prosecute the UAE in international courts and open the files of crimes committed against the people in the southern provinces during the past four years.
The statement called on the Southern Transitional Council and the Houthis to arbitrate reason and obey the calls for peace as blood.
About two weeks ago, the southern transitional separatists took control of the southern provinces of Aden and Abyan with the support of an Emirati airstrike targeting Yemeni army positions, killing about 300 people dead and wounded, according to a statement by the Yemeni Defense Ministry.
The UAE subsequently acknowledged the raids, but justified it by targeting "armed terrorist groups" in response to coalition forces attacking Aden airport, justifications rejected by the Yemeni government as "false."
