Jessica Pegula of the United States, ranked 79th overall, won the WTA tournament in Washington, beating Italy's Camila Giorgi (62) 6-2, 6-2, Sunday in the final.
Pegula, 25, opens her record to her second final, having lost the first in Quebec City in 2018. She also becomes the second American to win in front of her public after Sloane Stephens, four years ago.
"I am so happy to win my first tournament here," said the young woman.
With this victory, Pegula should reach 54th place in the next WTA rankings released on Monday.
The young player left no chance to his opponent, making the break each time at the beginning of the set and no longer releasing the pressure, to conclude the game in just over an hour.
Pegula now leads 3-to-1 wins to Giorgi, a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon last year, but has not played much since due to right wrist injuries.
It was the first final of the 27-year-old Italian since her victory in Linz last year. His only other title on the WTA circuit was in Rosmalen in 2015.
On the men's side, the final will be the world number 10, Daniil Medvedev, in the evening, with the whimsical Australian Nick Kyrgios (52).
