The United States took seventh place in the basketball World Cup by beating Poland 87-74 in Beijing on Saturday, their worst result since the competition's inception in 1950.

Their biggest fiasco was this year's 2002 Indianapolis, where the Americans finished sixth with three defeats, one more than in this Chinese edition.

Overwhelmed by the packages, Gregg Popovich's team was made up entirely of NBA players, but without any of the biggest stars. She had only two All Star, Kemba Walker (Boston Celtics) and Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks).

Team USA was eliminated from the title race by France in the quarterfinals (89-79). He then lost to Serbia in a first classification match (94-89). In the first round, he almost defeated Turkey (93-92). In preparation, the Americans had suffered in Australia (98-94) their first setback for thirteen years.

At World Cup-2006, the United States lost in the semifinal against Greece. They had reacted by winning twice the Olympic Games (2008, 2012) and twice the World Cup (2010, 2014).

The young Donovan Mitchell was the best American scorer of the match against Poland with 16 points.
