Disney +, Amazon Prime and Netflix will be the big winners of streaming - Geeko

The streaming war, which has just started with the arrival of Disney + and Apple TV + on the market, could last for years, according to analysts, who foresee a clear victory for Disney +. Disney's streaming platform, which has so far only been launched in certain markets, is already a huge success in the United States. And to believe the study of Research and Market, Disney could come to tickle its great rival Netflix. By 2025, Disney + could have up to 126 million subscribers. This would make it the third largest streaming platform behind Netflix and Amazon Prime, which currently have 167 and 150 million subscribers worldwide, respectively.

Far behind, we would find Hulu (also owned by Disney), HBO Max (the new platform from Warner Bros) and Apple TV +. These three platforms have between 25 and 40 million subscribers. Apple TV + would be the big loser in the equation, with only 26 million subscribers in 5 years.

Disney would tend to prevail

According to Research and Market forecasts, Disney is very clearly the big winner of this gigantic showdown. Disney + 's very competitive offer, its catalog and its few pretty exclusives which are based on licenses known to all would make it a difficult competitor to counter for Netflix and Amazon Prime. If the two streaming giants are to maintain their leadership positions, their subscriber growth will be weaker in the coming years. Netflix would gain only 51 million new subscribers, mostly outside the United States, over a 5-year period.

If the forecasts of Research and Market are supposed to give indications on the performances of the various platforms, they do not however anticipate the acquisitions and changes of strategy of the forces in presence, which could radically tip the balance in favor of the One. Two. The takeover of a large studio by Apple could thus heavily impact the forecasts, as well as the arrival of new bundles. One thing is certain, however: the number of subscribers to streaming platforms should increase considerably in the coming years, reaching a record low of 553 million subscribers in 2025, compared to 357 today.
