The United States on Thursday added Saudi Arabia and Cuba to its black list of countries that are not doing enough to combat human trafficking, which could lead to sanctions.
In its annual report, the US State Department criticized Saudi Arabia for its abuses of foreign workers and accused Cuba of trafficking in human beings through its program to send doctors abroad.
China, North Korea, Russia and Venezuela remain among the countries the US State Department accuses of human trafficking, according to the report.
"If you do not deal with trafficking, America will confront you," Foreign Secretary Mike Pompeo told the report in the presence of the daughter of the president and his adviser Ivanka Trump.
The inclusion of the States on the list means that the United States can limit its assistance to it or stop supporting it in bodies such as the International Monetary Fund.
Last year, Washington took measures against 22 countries, according to the classification of human trafficking.
