“We attach great importance to cooperation in the Caspian region. We agreed with Mr. Ali Larijani to study the possibility of implementing a new format of inter-parliamentary interaction and to turn to our fellow parliamentarians from the Caspian basin countries with a proposal to participate in resolving common issues through the parliamentary dimension, ”Volodin quoted Interfax as saying.
He noted the need for effective work within the inter-parliamentary commission of Russia and Iran.
“This is a new format that will allow us to consider a wide range of issues, and not only the political spectrum, but also issues of a very specific nature that require executive decisions,” he added.
Earlier, Volodin noted that Russia and Iran, under the conditions of US sanctions, should develop bilateral trade and protect mutual investment.
