June 21, 2019 A series of explosions shook houses near a Philadelphia refinery, where a huge fire broke out. The column of black smoke that rises from the refinery, the Philadelphia Energy Solutions, can be seen from miles away.

Residents were asked to stay at home. The refinery is the largest on the east coast, with about 1,000 employees and is a structure dating back 150 years.

According to reports from local broadcasters at dawn, the fire brigades managed to contain the fire and there would be no injuries or evacuation operations in progress.

The explosion triggered gasoline prices, up 3.6% to $ 1.85 a gallon. The incident occurred in the southern part of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but the explosion was felt as far as New Jersey, the American press reports. Although there were no injuries, the company explained that it is calling all employees.
