The US ambassador to Kuwait, Lawrence Silverman, said that the Gulf crisis will be present in the files to be discussed by the Emir of Kuwait in his scheduled meeting with the US President in Washington this month.

"I am sure that the Gulf dispute will be on the list of issues that the Emir of Kuwait will raise during his meeting with the US president," Silverman told a news conference at the US embassy in Kuwait.

"I believe that his solution remains a high priority for the Emir of Kuwait to this day, just as it is for us, and I am sure there will be serious discussion on it and on how best to restore the full unity of the Gulf Cooperation Council."

This comes in light of the renewed diplomatic contacts on the Gulf crisis in recent times, the Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim conveyed a message from the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani last Thursday, observers said that the letter related to the efforts Kuwaiti mediation to resolve the Gulf crisis.

Al-Ghanim's message followed a verbal message from Saudi Arabia's State Minister Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd al-Saud from Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the Emir of Kuwait.

The emir will travel to the United States on a visit scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on Thursday.
