Dozens of protests are planned this Saturday, August 31 in the United Kingdom to two months to the day of the Brexit deadline with the slogan: "stop the coup" or "defend democracy".

In the crosshairs of protesters: the controversial decision taken this week by Boris Johnson to suspend Parliament from the second week of September until October 14, in the home stretch before the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union.

Downing Street is waiting for hundreds of thousands of protesters. The rally is national and is scheduled to take place in 32 cities in the United Kingdom. But in London, the tension is at its height since Boris Johnson announced the suspension of Parliament.

"Democracy flouted"

On the posters of the protesters we speak of "democracy flouted", "coup d'etat" and a prime minister who does not respect his country. For the British - who before Brexit, did not really have the habit of going down the street - this suspension of Parliament is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Civil disobedience

But today, we do not speak so much of Brexit as to save democracy . Some leftist movements even call for actions of civil disobedience. They want to block bridges and roads to send a strong message to the Johnson government.
