The Council of the International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), at the 31st session of the General Assembly of the Organization in Rome, decided to select the United Arab Emirates as a permanent member of the ICCROM Council in recognition of the UAE and its outstanding contribution during the work of the International Organization. , Including hosting the only ICCROM Regional Center in the Emirate of Sharjah. This is the first time that the ICCROM Council has taken this decision, making the UAE the second country in the world to receive this status after Italy, as the country of the headquarters of the international organization. The Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, thanked the ICCROM member states for choosing the UAE as a permanent member of the SCO Council, in recognition of the UAE's continuous efforts and achievements in the field of cultural heritage preservation. In cooperation with all Member States, to develop programs and policies for the preservation of cultural heritage, and to improve the capacity of cultural institutions to manage heritage sites around the world to ensure their sustainability. Al Kaabi said: “The UAE has made qualitative leaps, and has established its prestige and reputation in recent years in the preservation of cultural heritage, protection of sites threatened with destruction, and restoration according to the best international practices adopted, in cooperation with its partners from friendly and brotherly countries and relevant international organizations, especially UAE projects in the Iraqi city of Mosul, in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the project (Hostel Peace) in the Bahraini city of Muharraq, inscribed on the World Heritage List, which is held in partnership with the Center of Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khali Culture and Research, which opened a few days ago. ”
