The UAE has continued its support to the Yemeni service sectors, and the UAE Red Crescent Authority yesterday launched a 'Back to School' campaign on the west coast of Yemen. The UAE also continued to provide relief convoys in a number of Yemeni governorates as part of its urgent response campaign Relief, health, education and hygiene in Yemen, in early September on the occasion of the year of tolerance 2019, within the framework of humanitarian initiatives and projects that the UAE continues to implement through the wings of humanitarian work in the liberated Yemeni governorates, including Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Dhali, Hadramout, Shabwa and West coast of Yemen «Hodeidah and Taiz».

The humanitarian and relief aspect of the emergency response campaign included the distribution of 15,000 food baskets in Aden, Lahj and Abyan, aimed at relief to the families of the martyrs, the affected and the needy families. The UAE Red Crescent volunteer teams in Aden initiated the emergency response campaign in mid-August, which involved distributing more than 3,000 food baskets benefiting 21,000 people, as well as distributing more than 80,000 cubic liters of drinking water in Aden.

As part of the emergency response campaign, Al-Hilal launched a large-scale relief campaign in Zanzibar, the capital of Abyan province. Since its launch, the IHH volunteer teams have distributed more than 2000 food baskets, benefiting 14,000 people.

Khalid Ibrahim, the coordinator of relief organizations in Abyan, said that the UAE has launched an emergency response campaign, distributing relief materials, providing medicines to the governorate's hospitals, launching a large clean-up campaign, and offering condolences to the families of the martyrs and the wounded, and expressing his appreciation and gratitude for this assistance. For their part, Yemeni beneficiaries expressed their joy and happiness at the arrival of the UAE relief campaign in Abyan province.

The UAE Red Crescent has continued to distribute relief and food aid in Hadramout governorate, where it distributed 1115 food baskets, benefiting 5575 people from poor and needy families in Tarim district. The number of food baskets distributed since the beginning of the year of tolerance in the governorate reached 25 thousand 744 basket.

The UAE Red Crescent also distributed food aid to low-income people in the Lower Markha district in Shabwa governorate.The number of food baskets distributed since the beginning of the year was 30,578 food baskets, targeting 141,787 in the governorate.

Al-Hilal has carried out relief campaigns to help flood-affected people in the west coast. Volunteer teams have distributed 180,000 food baskets benefiting 1.260 million people on the Yemeni west coast since the beginning of the year of tolerance.

It is noteworthy that the total food baskets that have been distributed since the beginning of the year of tolerance 2019 until September, reached more than 320 thousand food baskets benefited two million and 240 thousand people, in various Yemeni liberated governorates. The campaign, which was inaugurated by the Directorate of Mokha in Taiz governorate, under the slogan «My school .. my future», includes a complete furnishing of the schools, which were re-renovated and opened earlier by 36 schools, in addition to the distribution of an integrated school bag to students in Taiz and Hodeidah governorates.

The Director of Humanitarian Affairs of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, Mohammed Al Junaibi, and the Director General of the Directorate of Mukha, Sultan Mahmoud, unveiled the commemorative plaque at Al Jalaa Primary School in Yakhtl, which was completed and constructed by the Red Crescent Authority. The UAE is keen for a better future for the Yemeni people.
