Typhoon-damaged Hokuriku Shinkansen resumes operation on all lines 13th October 25th 6:45

The Hokuriku Shinkansen, which had been suspended in some sections due to the influence of Typhoon No. 19, was reopened on the entire line for the first time in 13 days, with the first train leaving Kanazawa Station at 6 am.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen was closed between Nagano Station and Joetsu Myoko Station in Niigata Prefecture due to the flooding of the Nagano Shinkansen Vehicle Center, and the direct operation between Tokyo and Kanazawa was cancelled.

JR resumed operation on the entire line from the 25th after restoration work and safety checks were completed, and families and businessmen with suitcases came to Kanazawa Station from around 5:30 am.

And we got on the first train “Kagayaki 500” bound for Tokyo, which was waiting at home, and left Kanazawa Station at 6:00 am.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen will be operating on all lines for the first time in 13 days since the 12th of this month when the planned suspension was made around noon as Typhoon 19 approached.

A woman in her 60s who headed to Tokyo said, “I will go to Disneyland with my grandson. It would be nice to have a small child to go to Tokyo via Maibara, so it was good to have the Hokuriku Shinkansen resumed.”

According to JR, for the time being, the Hokuriku Shinkansen will have about 90% of the normal operation combined with the upper and lower lines.
