Tunisia advanced their hopes of reaching the second round of the World Basketball Cup finals in China until September 15th, defeating Iran 79-67 in the second round of Group C.

The African champions in 2017 fell in the first match against the Spanish team, the defending champion in 2006, and Iran suffered the second defeat after it fell to Puerto Rico in the first round.

Salah Majri, a former NBA player in Dallas, was the best scorer with 22 points, 15 rebounds and three assists.

Tunisia will meet Puerto Rico in the third round on Wednesday, and will try to reach the second round for the first time in its history during its second participation after it was eliminated from the first round at the 2010 World Cup in Turkey.
