United States President Donald Trump criticized Thursday the award of the Oscar for best film for "Parasite", a South Korean film.

At a campaign rally for his re-election in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Trump asked the crowd "How bad has the Academy Awards been this year?"

"We have enough problems with South Korea, with trade. And on top of that, do they give them the title of best film of the year?" Exclaimed the president, incredulous.

A mix of thriller, family comedy and social inequality satire, "Parasite" by South Korean director Bong Joon-ho is the first feature film in a language other than English to earn Hollywood's flagship award .

Mr. Trump hinted that he had not seen the film. "Was it good? I don't know," he said.

The American distributor of the film, Neon, replied on Twitter to the president's remarks. According to him, the skepticism of Donald Trump towards this subtitled film is "understandable: he can not read".

Trump, whose presidency is built on the nationalist slogan "America first", went on to express his preference for the great classics of Hollywood's golden age.

"Give us + Gone with the Wind +. Can we get again + Gone with the Wind +, please? Or + Boulevard du twilight +?" He asked.

The president also launched a spade against Brad Pitt, better actor in a supporting role, which he qualified as "small pretentious". Brad Pitt used his thank-you speech to support the process of removing Donald Trump, who was finally acquitted by the Senate in early February.
