The Tokyo Game Show, the annual Japanese high mass game, opened Thursday and shines this year with its diversity, between the highly anticipated and hyper-realistic Death Stranding and a timely new version of Mario and Sonic at the Olympics.

From the opening of this show held near Chiba (Greater East suburbs of Tokyo), the fans of the controllers rushed to the Sony PlayStation stand, where is presented in the show the indescribable Death Stranding, a game whose first images have bluffed even the most jaded.

It's "a totally new type of action game," its designer, Hideo Kojima, a video gaming executive, who created his own studio after years of brilliant service at Konami, promised flagship titles like Metal Gear.

"Master" Kojima is in person at the Tokyo Game Show this year. He made an appointment with his admirers Thursday afternoon for an unprecedented presentation of this video game for adults, where we recognize the faces of the French actress Léa Seydoux and the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen.

The worldwide release of Death Stranding is scheduled for Nov. 8 on PlayStation 4.

At the other end of the spectrum, Mario, the inevitable and friendly mustachioed plumber, associated with the Sonic go-getter for a thematic game on the Olympic Games, with the official Tokyo 2020 logo.

The eSports will not be on the Tokyo Olympics yet next year, but is now well represented at the TGS, having arrived late, the Japanese are not as "eSports" as their Asian neighbors or Western.

A week before the release of the new version of the Nintendo Switch console, the more compact Switch Lite, 129 titles for this popular semi-fixed, semi-portable range are presented at the TGS.

The PlayStation 4 exposes its side 157 games at the TGS, but the fans are already waiting for the next generation of the Sony console, under development.

The nostalgic should also find their account at the show, including the Taito booth exhibiting full-size replicas of tables and arcade (PacMan, Space Invaders, etc.) "which will soon be on sale in Japan for individuals", according to a spokeswoman for the company.

In four days, the Tokyo Game Show welcomes each year between 260,000 and 300,000 visitors.
