How would you react if a news article was full of emojis? Should you stay :)? Or maybe: S? Today, emojis are not used in formal contexts and the reason for this is according to the language of P1's expert Ylva Byrman, because it does not fit.

- It can be something that we look back on and think is nonsensical, says Ylva Byrman, university professor in Swedish at Gothenburg University.

Emojin was created in the late 1990s. More than 90 percent of us use the Internet to emojis when writing with friends and family. The world's most popular emoji is crying laughter mojo, in Sweden the red heart is most popular ❤.

According to Ylva Byrman, emojis must lose their informal status in order for authorities to start using them in their texts.
