According to her, the opening of the bridge is "a great event not only for Crimea, but for the whole world as a whole."

“This is proof and a lesson to those representatives of the Kiev authorities who thought that having interrupted the railway connection, we would be cut off from the outside world and we would have serious difficulties,” RIA Novosti quoted Gridchin as saying.

She added that in Kiev “they were mistaken if they thought that it was possible to speak with Crimeans with the help of pressure, force and blackmail.”

Gridchina also noted that with the launch of train traffic on the Crimean bridge, the peninsula completely overcame the region’s transport blockade, which the Ukrainian authorities arranged in 2014, unilaterally interrupting train traffic.

Earlier, the EU said that the opening of the railway part of the Crimean bridge "violates the state sovereignty of Ukraine."

On December 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the opening ceremony of the Crimean Bridge railway, passing through it in the driver’s cab.
