There will be no Iberia strike this weekend at El Prat. The strike committee of the company's land workers in Barcelona has recalled this afternoon the stoppages planned for August 30 and 31 at the aforementioned airfield after "accepting the company's commitment to improve its employment proposals for the workforce ".

The Government had summoned the parties this morning to a new meeting to try to mediate, after the failure of the talks yesterday, Tuesday. Workers asked for improvements in hiring.

The one that remains for the moment is the strike in Madrid of the ground staff of the same company, which this morning has formally called the strikes. The strike affects about 4,000 workers in the four terminals of the Madrid airport and the cargo terminal.

Precariousness

The workers complained about the precariousness of their contracts, "the perpetual temporality" and the extension of part-time work and therefore demanded better hiring.

Iberia said last week in a statement that the strike in Barajas "is not understood" in full operation return from vacation, since it is a "damage to the company's customers."

The strike of Iberia is joined by Ryanair in September , in this case, by the closure of three of the bases that the company has in Spain (Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Girona). The acting Minister of Development, José Luis Ábalos, said yesterday that he will appear in Congress at the beginning of September to account for the strikes and strikes registered at the Barcelona-El Prat airport and also those of Renfe.
