According to Belik, the topic of Crimea’s membership has been exhausted.

“It is becoming increasingly difficult for Western diplomats to come up with new resolutions on Crimea ... The apogee was the adoption of this resolution,” the deputy said.

According to the parliamentarian, the adoption of such a resolution can be explained by an attempt by the West to integrate the topic of Crimea into the information agenda of the meeting of the "Norman Four", held on December 9 in Paris.

“Our overseas partners really wanted to add a little Crimean theme to the agenda of the Norman Four,” Belik added.

He also noted that countries that regularly support such initiatives do so at the expense of their own national interests.

Earlier, 63 countries voted in favor of the adoption of the relevant resolution, while 19 voted against.

The document calls for Russia to "withdraw troops from the Crimea."

Crimea became the Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which most residents spoke out for reunification with Russia.
