“Today, immediately after the Divine Liturgy, after the sacrament, Father Vsevolod Chaplin died. It was possible to agree or disagree with many views of Father Vsevolod Chaplin, but I am convinced of one thing, knowing him well that they were always motivated by love and jealousy to preserve the faith and the Russian Orthodox Church, ”Gavrilov emphasized.

The parliamentarian added that the harmony of Chaplin’s thoughts, his temperament and sincerity “deserved great respect, and many have love for him.”

“I am sincerely sorry that I did not have time to meet with him as planned, to meet in the near future, to speak for life. I sincerely grieve and pray for the repose of his soul, ”the deputy concluded.

Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin died at the 52nd year of his life on Sunday, January 26, near the church of Theodore Studite at the Nikitsky Gate in Moscow.

He served as chairman of the synodal department for relations between the Church and society of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2009—2015. In 1999, Chaplin was elevated to the rank of archpriest.
