• Barcelona. The security guards at El Prat airport vote to start the strike

Barcelona-El Prat Airport faces from Friday, in the middle of the summer season, a new strike, in this case of the workers of Trablisa , the company in charge of security controls, which already carried out work stoppages two years ago to demand labor and salary improvements.

Trablisa's staff decided on Thursday to go on an indefinite strike after the failure of the mediation meetings and to consider the last offer of the company insufficient, which only agreed to pay them a bonus on the payroll as of October .

The workers, however, called for other improvements, such as a plus of one euro per hour for the "physical and mental burden that the collective supports", that the company be responsible for the costs of parking its staff at the airport and breaks Ten minutes per hour .

The company alleges that it "cannot assume" the economic requests of the strike committee and that it is strictly complying with the collective agreement.

The Government Delegation in Catalonia has decreed a minimum of 90% services for this strike, although the committee has already warned that they can hardly be fulfilled , since there are many workers on leave or on vacation.

The strikes are called about 500 workers in charge of the access controls of El Prat, the same as in 2017, then under the umbrella of the company Eulen , seconded a strike that caused serious problems in the operation of the airport and ended with an obligatory arbitration award.

The arrests of the guards then caused long lines in the security filters , to the point that the Civil Guard had to strengthen the control points to expedite access to boarding areas.

This is the second strike facing the El Prat Airport in less than two weeks, after the strikes that Iberia land personnel carried out at the end of July.

The strike, in this case, caused widespread delays and the cancellation of dozens of flights, a situation that was aggravated by the heavy rains that fell in the Barcelona area and even forced to temporarily close the runways.

The strike of Trablisa workers also takes place during the busiest time at Barcelona airport, in the middle of the summer season and with a thousand flights scheduled for this Friday alone.
