“Compared to last year, we can state a 5-10% decrease in the number of defendants in cases sent to court from among the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Federal Customs Service and several other departments,” he told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
In 2019, criminal cases were sent to the courts against 308 people with special legal status, Bastrykin added, noting that this is slightly less than last year.
In July, Bastrykin, in an interview with Izvestia, proposed making confiscation of property an additional form of punishment in the event of a corruption crime.
