This was stated by spokesman for the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov. According to him, Wikipedia is a respected, popular, self-renewing resource.

“And what the president and some speakers had in mind is that with all due respect, all the same, the information published on Wikipedia and regularly updated on Wikipedia is not guaranteed by anyone,” RIA quotes him News.

According to Peskov, no one guarantees the correctness and reliability of the data in Wikipedia. He added that Putin talked about the need to make an encyclopedia guaranteed in terms of reliability. Peskov said that such a source is the Great Russian Encyclopedia.

“There can be no question of any prohibitions, any obstacles to access to Wikipedia,” Peskov said.

Earlier, Putin during a meeting of the Russian Language Council in the Kremlin said that it would be better to replace Wikipedia with the Big Russian new electronic encyclopedia.
