A woman sought and received treatment for her complaints at the women's clinic two years ago, but no cell test was ever taken.

- The symptoms she had can have many different causes, and it was decided that cell tests should not be taken, says Helena Gladh, chief physician at Halland's hospital.

However, the trouble continued for the woman.

Turned out to be cancer

One and a half years after the first visit, cell samples were taken, and then it turned out that the woman had cancer.

- The patient then receives treatment, but the delay has led to increased suffering for her and there is also a risk of deteriorating prognosis.

Due to the incident, the hospital has taken action.

- We need to be clearer and encourage patients to inquire if you are not well or if you have questions, she says and continues:

- We have also clarified when different samples should be taken.
