“On behalf of the region’s administration and on my own behalf, I express my sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Gleb Igorevich,” RIA Novosti quoted the head of the region as saying.
The regional administration confirmed that the incident occurred on Saturday morning.
“The message to the emergency services on duty at 6:05 was received from Chulkov’s mother, whose place of residence he was under house arrest,” they said.
The operational investigation team, who arrived at the scene of the incident, noted the death of a man.
Earlier, the regional administration of the Investigative Committee confirmed the death of the vice-governor of the Tambov region.
Currently, the agency is figuring out the circumstances of the incident.
Chulkov was detained in October on suspicion of fraud, after which the court placed the official under house arrest.
