“With great sadness, I learned about the death of Alexei Leonov. One of the great space explorers left us, ”the Werner telegram published on the website of the state corporation indicated.
According to him, Leonov inspired many people with the first ever spacewalk in history in 1965, as well as the historical docking of the Soyuz and Apollo spacecraft in 1975.
Werner noted that "everyone is deeply indebted to this man." He also expressed condolences to the Leonov family.

Alexei Leonov died at the 86th year of his life.
