“Obviously, Washington is pursuing its own goals, but this rhetoric of accusation is just a propaganda move. The United States deliberately, systematically strikes strategic stability: withdrawal from the ABM Treaty, exit from the INF Treaty and the future of START III, ”the expert explained.

The analyst noted that this statement Pompeo can be regarded as the formation of the necessary background information to justify its one-way exit.

At the same time, he stressed that Russia "has repeatedly demonstrated a desire to sit down at the negotiating table and start discussions on this issue."

Earlier, Pompeo commented on the termination of the INF.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles has been officially terminated since August 2.

In early 2019, Washington announced a unilateral withdrawal from the INF Treaty, accusing Moscow of violating the agreement. The formal reason for the suspension of the participation of the American side in the agreement was the possibility of the Russian 9M729 missiles. Moscow, in turn, maintains the position that Washington has been violating the provisions of the treaty in question since it began using its target rockets in 1999.
