German Chancellor Angela Merkel contacted the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during which they discussed developments in Libya and the application of the outputs of the Berlin conference.
The Emir of the State of Qatar assured Merkel of his country's support for the outputs of the Berlin Conference. The two sides also stressed the need to adhere to the ceasefire in Libya and calm and to allow dialogue, in order to preserve the lives of Libyans and our right to blood.
During the call, the strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries were discussed, and ways to enhance and develop them, according to the Qatar News Agency.
Arms ban
In this context, the German government called on all participants in the Berlin conference to adhere to the arms embargo and not to send military personnel to Libya.
On January 19, the leaders of the countries participating in the Berlin conference on the Libyan crisis committed to respect the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations in 2011, and to stop any external interference in the conflict that has existed in the country for years.
The countries participating in this conference - the United States, Russia, France, Britain, China, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Egypt, the Emirates, Algeria and the Congo - agreed that there would be no "military solution" to the conflict that is tearing Libya apart. The participants also called for a permanent and effective ceasefire.
Four international and regional organizations participated, namely the United Nations, the European Union, the African Union and the Arab League.
