The activities of the third high-level technical working group for the Doing Business report, hosted by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, kicked off yesterday in Dubai.

More than 350 economic experts from 45 countries involved in doing business in the countries of Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa and the countries of Asia will participate in the meeting, which is held under the slogan "a global ambition towards businesses that grow and an economy flourishing".

The Ministry of Economy revealed that the Securities and Commodities Authority is making efforts, in cooperation with the financial markets, to inaugurate a separate listing platform for small and medium companies in the UAE markets, stressing that strengthening the legislative framework for financial markets and simplifying procedures, provides a domestic and foreign investor with a competitive investment environment comparable to its counterparts in the developed global markets .

The Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Securities and Commodities Authority, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, said that the Securities Commission has strengthened during the last period the legislative framework for financial markets, and made additions to achieve more simplification of procedures, so as to allow the domestic and foreign investor a competitive investment environment comparable to those in the markets Sophisticated global finance.

He affirmed that the new corporate governance system, which was recently prepared by the authority, is expected to be issued soon, taking into account social and environmental considerations, and the various aspects related to corporate governance.

Al-Mansouri pointed out that the Authority is making efforts, in cooperation with the financial markets, to launch a separate listing platform for small and medium-sized companies in the UAE markets, while setting the necessary operational and supervisory framework for this.

For its part, the Minister of Community Development, member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, Hessa bint Issa Bouhamid, said that the UAE believes in the Doing Business report, and deals with its outputs positively, and with an open view to achieve comprehensive improvements in its requirements and axes, to seize a place for itself in the ranks of the first countries Worldwide.

In the same context, the General Director of the Federal Authority for Competitiveness and Statistics, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, said that the UAE looks at the global reports very seriously, and uses them to launch projects and adopt legislative and procedural updates that reflect reality and establish a better tomorrow.
