We read at home, in public transport or in the library, but what always takes place, wherever it is, is an intimate encounter between the reader and the author of the book in his hands. To shorten the distance between the two and turn the love for books into something public and festive, the Eñe Festival returns punctually to its appointment with Madrid. Between November 11 and 23, in venues such as the Cervantes Institute, the Circle of Fine Arts, Casa de América, the Casa del Lector or the National Library, numerous meetings, round tables, workshops and all kinds of related activities will take place with literature and its intersection with other artistic disciplines.

In this eleventh edition, the literary director of the festival is the writer and journalist Sergio del Molino , who wanted to claim with the programming «the border books, those who do not proclaim a clear and univocal vocation to be fictions, those who play to deceive, those who tell lies that seem true, those who use the self with shamelessness, those who camouflage themselves as testimonies and reports, those who are sometimes poetry and sometimes do not know what they are, those who read to learn something and from whom it gets more ignorant and shaky.

More than a hundred journalists, writers, poets, illustrators, musicians and artists will participate in Eñe, most of them consecrated figures from the Spanish and Latin American scene. Among them, the name of Javier Cercas , the recent Planeta Prize, which will receive these days the Eñe Award for his entire career , but also those of Antonio Muñoz Molina, Edurne Portela, Ángela Segovia Santiago Roncagliolo or Manuel Vilas.

Among the novelties of this edition the most relevant is that, for the first time, there will be a guest country, in this case Mexico , present at the festival through conversations and workshops at the Institute of Mexico and the House of Mexico, in which Some of the most prominent voices of the Aztec country will participate today, such as Elda Cantú, Fernanda Melchor or Luis Jorge Boone.

The debates and round tables will focus on narrative, poetry and essay , but there will also be talk about different concepts of motherhood, the validity of journalistic columnism or the relationship between football and the written word. Performance , humor and music will have their privileged place in programming, with hybrid proposals such as the musician-poetic recital of Elvira Sastre and Andrés Suárez (Thursday 21 at the WiZink Center), the monologue General Relativity of Juan Carlos Ortega ( Friday 15 at the Teatro del Círculo de Bellas Artes) or the show Living in Babia, by the writer, musician and performer Miguel Espigado (Saturday 16 at the CBA Ballroom).

Madrid booksellers , an endangered species, will join the festival so that lovers of lyrics can enjoy that unusual moment that is the encounter with some of their favorite authors, but also to organize workshops, recitals and round tables with guests like Luis García Montero, Lucía Baskaran, José Ovejero or Mario Saavedra.

Stage? Reference spaces such as Dream Traffickers, the Rafael Alberti bookstore or Enclave de Libros, which over the years have transcended their commercial activity to become meeting and reflection places , essential for spreading the passion for books. That is precisely the ultimate goal of the Eñe Festival, an invitation to discover that, as the Mill says, "literature is still a lively party that resists the dissection of the philologist and the mortise of the museum."
