Spanish Princess Maria Teresa died Friday of the emerging corona virus as she is the first member of the royal family in the world to die with the new virus.

British reports said Maria, 86, of the Bourbon-Parma royal family, had died of complications from the emerging virus. Her younger brother, Prince Sextus Henry of Bourbon-Parma, announced the tragic news as the world grappled with the epidemic.

The death of Princess Maria Theresa comes after Prince Charles of the British Royal Family announced this week that he had been infected with the virus.
