The activities of the seventh session of the used book festival organized by the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services were launched today under the slogan "Buy a book that gives a path" in which one million copies of a book are displayed in the palm garden on the shores of Khalid Lake, and it continues until February 29 this year at very symbolic prices starting with two dirhams and ending with 20 dirhams .

The festival, which was inaugurated by the Director of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Mona Abdul Karim Al-Yafi ', ​​is part of the activities of Sharjah, the world capital of the book.

Al-Yafeai emphasized that one of the festival's most important goals is to spread culture and knowledge, and to consolidate the culture of volunteerism by providing an opportunity for those wishing to volunteer participation, including people of interest, whether to collect and sort books, or through alternate committees and overseeing sales and direct dealing with the public, as well as The precious opportunities it offers to its visitors from all ages, demographics and social levels to acquire books and provide knowledge and culture. She pointed to the coming numbers of brothers from the sisterly Sultanate of Oman who were waiting for the announcement of the festival, and their presence and their appetite to acquire books has become a distinct part of the festival.

She added that «volunteering is a behavior and culture that the city is keen to develop in the hearts of volunteers, and the book book festival is witnessing a remarkable demand from various school and university students, employees of centers, public benefit societies and other government institutions, in addition to the increasing numbers of city employees, as everyone works in the spirit of the family The One ».

She explained that one of the most important ideas presented for the book festival used is to transform it into a permanent institution based on the directives of Sheikha Jamila bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, and thus his continuity throughout the year, and employ a staff who continues to work in it, in order to continuously spread culture and achieve the desired goals .
