KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - French police have offered to help their Malaysian counterpart probe into an Irish girl whose body was found "naked" near a waterway in a rain forest resort in Srimban, about 70 km south of Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysian police found the body of Nora Ann Quirin, 15, yesterday, 10 days after her disappearance.

For his part, urged family lawyer Sankara Nair, the Malaysian police to accept the offer of French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to help in the investigation into the circumstances of the death, as "Reuters".

She added that the family's lawyer explained that the Quirin family expects the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, including criminal aspects. "It is a very good offer ... I hope the police will accept this help," she said.

Police said they would hold a press conference on the incident later in the day.

In a statement on behalf of the family, Lucy Blackman Trust, a British organization supporting victims, said the family initially feared there would be a criminal side in the disappearance of Nora because she had special needs and had never left her family voluntarily at all.

Malaysian Deputy Police Chief Mazlan Mansoor said yesterday that the preliminary investigation had found no evidence of criminal behavior but police would investigate all possibilities.

The results of the autopsy are expected on Monday, police said.
